Our plans or How to get more involved

A little bit off-topic: a few days passed after while True: learn() was released on Steam and in Humble Store. However, are those days indeed? Hah, just a few 24 hours long time intervals! Something unbelievable happened out there, we did not expect so many people to be interested in our game. Because, you know, the game is hard, it is about machine learning and programming, which are not the easiest topics to get into. Whatever happened in the past with all our doubts and fears, we are so damn happy that it started off so well and that there is still a lot of work for us to attend to and, what is more, we are overfilled by motivation.
Many people are asking us how to get more involved in the game’s development process, since they love the game and are willing to help us make it even better. We have gathered everything in one list so that everyone can do what he/she likes the most.
0. Influence the development in our Roadmap
Here you can see a list of tasks and the dates they must be completed by. All we do is in public access, so don’t be shy to leave your comments or vote for different interesting features. We will be keeping an eye on your opinions, and you will be seeing what we are doing in our office every day.
1. Write us what you think about the game in Steam game news (updates)
We will be posting news at least 2 times a week, on Mondays and Fridays. On Mondays, we will be telling you about our plan for the week, and on Fridays, we will be updating the game and telling you what’s new has been added to it. Thanks to your comments under these posts, we will be able to understand if we are moving in the right direction or if we need to change it.
2. Help us translate the game to your native language
We have this document, using which you can help us to translate the game to your native language. If there is no column for your native language in there — just add it! We will do our best to add the translation to the game as soon as possible.
For example, just a few days after the launch our huge friend Manuel Prueter asked us to provide him a link to the document in the evening. In the morning, after we woke up, Manuel told us that he spent all his night to translate the game and the translation to German is ready. We were a bit shocked, but put ourselves together and after a few hours of hard work the German localization of the game was added to the game.
3. Write a guide
One of the amazing players of our community, @switchblade has already begun to write a guide, which you can check out here. This is absolutely amazing, because it helps new players get to know the world of machine learning a lot better.
4. Tell your story
We are really fond of the stories told by our players about why are they playing our game, why are they interested in machine learning and how the game helps them in becoming good at it.
Maybe you are willing to find a job as a machine learning specialist? Or you are a student who is preparing for entering university? Or you are a teacher who uses the game so that thee children don’t get bored during the lessons?
All of these stories are making us inspired and help us make the game more interesting and useful for you. Just end your stories at info@luden.io.
5. Send us interesting stuff about machine learning
As you may know, we are not simply working on a game. The game is just the top of the iceberg. We want people to learn something new with fun and ease. That’s why we always share interesting new things like videos from here or projects like this. This helps people to stop being afraid of difficult entrance to the sphere and then everything turns out well for them.
6. Film a video about the game or ask your beloved Youtube/Twitch reviewer to make it
The point is not about the publicity of the game, but about helping people who got stuck at a certain task in the game. What is more, you may know that younger kids learn better, when they are following someone’s steps. Therefore, your Youtube comment can easily lead to a birth of a new Steve Jobs’ or Mark Zukerberg’s desire to write code.
7. Just do with ❤️ what you think is right to do
We just simply want to quote Paul Graham’s post written in от July 2008.
US schools are often bad. A lot of parents realize it, and would be interested in ways for their kids to learn more. Till recently, schools, like newspapers, had geographical monopolies. But the web changes that. How can you teach kids now that you can reach them through the web? The possible answers are a lot more interesting than just putting books online.
One route would be to start with test prep services, for which there’s already demand, and then expand into teaching kids more than just how to score high on tests. Another would be to start with games and gradually make them more thoughtful. Another, particularly for younger kids, would be to let them learn by watching one another (anonymously) solve problems.
Share the links with your friends, let your sister or brother play the game, speak to your teachers at school (by the way, we always provide our games to schools for free info@luden.io), write a post about the game on Twitter, tell about it on Reddit…
Any action taken will lead some person to wish to learn something new, and it will mean that we are doing a right thing to us. It is important to not to get shy to learn something at any age and make an effort to make it fun and interesting for our friends and children.
Then, one day, humanity will create Skynet with your name written on its panel… Err, I wanted to say that the world will simply become a better place to live in.
